Before we get back to Lady Ann's second last chapter tomorrow, I just thought I'd show you a really good review that was posted on Amazon for my novel, Criminal Record...
Awesomely Creative, Innovative, Sexy and Fun!
It isn't often that a novel comes along that makes you sit back and just admire the talent of the author in creating the idea and executing the work. Criminal Record is one of those novels. This is a transformation (both protagonists change significantly) and, for most of its length, a transposition novel (the protagonists, physically, become each other). The brilliance of the work comes from the transposition being "imperfect," that is, some characteristics of each of the heroines become part of the other. This is executed with great skill by Ms. Finn, who apparently created a clear set of rules of "transposition behavior," and made this crazy, erotic story adhere to those rules. The reader is treated to a thoughtful but tainted exchange of the two young women's personalities/minds/souls between their physical bodies, which the author seems to make totally logical and incredibly fun, in its bizarre manifestation.
As an author of a recent transposition novel, Soul Searching, which has more tightly-defined rules, I applaud Emma Finn's innovative corrupting of the exchange of the main characters, and the unexpected effect of this contamination on the clever plot and the surprising ending. This well-written and edited novel is loaded with surprises - including wonderfully erotic scenes - set in a fascinating, fictional locale in the UK. The characters have real depth, which isn't what you'd necessarily expect, and live in a deliciously bifurcated community of the rich and the poor. It provides plenty of nobility and flaws on both sides.
The story is a treat. I couldn't put it down. And when I finally got to the satisfying-but-unexpected ending, I wanted it to go on and on. Priced below its substantial value, this is, perhaps, the best use of your Kindle funds for any book this month. I recommend it with a well-deserved "BRAVO!" to Ms. Finn.
